Our Guiding Principles

Perpetual Impact

We believe in creating enduring change through investments that continue to benefit the community for generations, not just address immediate needs.

Local Stewardship

We are deeply rooted in the community we serve, guided by local knowledge and committed to preserving and enhancing the unique character of our region.

Transparent Accountability

We honor donor intentions through prudent financial management, clear reporting, and maintaining high standards of integrity in our operations.

Inclusive Collaboration

We bring together donors, nonprofits, civic leaders, and community members to identify local needs and create effective solutions.

Who We Are

Our History
The Foundation of Limestone County can trace its roots back to 1950.

In the shadow of loss, the Markowitz family provided a scholarship loan for a local high school student to honor the memory of their teenage son, Buddy. In 1951, the Markowitz’s, along with several friends, formally established the Buddy Markowitz Scholarship Endowment Fund.

In 1988, the fund officially became a 501(c)(3) and the growth has only continued.

Our Mission Today
To provide a reliable and easy way for Limestone County residents to positively impact their community.

The Foundation of Limestone County empowers the community by providing dependable and experienced management of donations and volunteer opportunities.

By equipping donors with the tools to make the largest impact with even the smallest donation, we work to build a stronger community.
